This online study aims to investigate how people’s moods are affected by short film clips. Participants will watch three short film clips and complete a brief questionnaire.<\/p>\n

Altogether, participation in the study takes around 15 minutes.<\/p>\n

This study aims to develop a new questionnaire on sensitivity. Participants will be asked to complete an online survey.<\/p>\n

Dr Marie-Lise Schlaeppy and Dr Becky Black<\/p>\n\t\t\t\tStudy 4: Understanding Eating Experiences in Highly Sensitive Individuals\n\t\t\t\t

We are conducting a study at the Department of Psychology, Royal Holloway, University of London exploring how highly sensitive individuals experience eating in everyday life. The aim of this research is to better understand how sensory, emotional, cognitive, and social factors may shape eating experiences among people with high environmental sensitivity.<\/p>\n

Participation involves:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u2022 Completing a short online questionnaire assessing environmental sensitivity<\/p>\n

\u2022 Some participants may be invited to take part in an\u00a0online interview (approximately 60 minutes)<\/b>\u00a0about their experiences with food and eating<\/p>\n

Do you consider yourself to be a Highly Sensitive Person?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Do you regularly spend time in nature and feel that these experiences are meaningful or positively impact your wellbeing?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If so, you may be eligible to take part in an interview study exploring how highly sensitive people experience and make sense of their time in nature in relation to wellbeing.
To participate in this research, you must:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Be aged\u00a018 years or older<\/strong>.
\u2022 Identify as a\u00a0Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)<\/strong>. (You can find the official self-test on Elaine Aron’s website here:\u00a0https:\/\/hsperson.com\/test\/highly-sensitive-test\/<\/a>)
\u2022 Engage with nature regularly (e.g., parks, countryside, woodland, beaches, gardens).
\u2022 Feel that your experiences in nature are meaningful or positively impactful.
\u2022 Be willing to discuss your personal experiences of nature and being a Highly Sensitive Person in a one-to-one interview.
\u2022 Have access to a stable internet connection and a private space.
\u2022 Have sufficient English comprehension.
\u2022 Feel that taking part will not interfere with any medical or psychological treatment or cause distress.<\/p>\n

What does participation involve?
Interviews last approximately\u00a060 minutes<\/strong>\u00a0and are conducted\u00a0online via<\/strong>\u00a0Microsoft Teams.<\/strong>\u00a0The Interviews are completely confidential.<\/p>\n

Before participating, you will be provided with a detailed Participant Information Form, which you will be required to read and understand before giving informed consent. You may withdraw from the study at any time without giving a reason. If you would like, you are welcome to bring or share a photograph that represents a meaningful experience in nature. This is completely optional and will simply be used to support discussion during the interview.<\/p>\n

All interviews are\u00a0confidential<\/strong>, and quotes used from your interview will be anonymised by changing or removing any personally identifiable information<\/p>\n

To express interest, please email the researcher Connie Jane Smart (cs1378@canterbury.ac.uk)<\/strong>, and you will be sent a Participant Information Form, followed by an online consent form.<\/p>\n

This Research is a part of the researcher’s MSc Psychology conversion degree at Canterbury Christ Church University.
