Expertise

I’m a PhD in Law student going into her second year at the University of Ottawa Centre for Law, Technology and Society. My research focuses on Algorithmic Surveillance/Discrimination/Governance and their effects on privacy and democracy. My research has shown that AI Systems that determine human futures can have a life-or-death impact on individuals, a disparate impact on minority groups and even wipe out social progress.

I am now thinking of directing my research towards (Algorithmic) Emotion Recognition technology (and its governance) and collaborate on research with wonderful sensitivity researchers in neuroscience, psychiatry, and psychology to incorporate research on mirror neurons and their correlation with empathy, the highly sensitive brain and highly sensitive people.
