Laia Briones Buixassa
(Dr)
Expertise
My research interest is focused on health psychology and suicide prevention. In this moment I’m developing a project about the relationship between sensory processing sensitivity and mental/physical health, considering the factors that mediate this relationship.
I developed my PhD on the psychosocial factors that affect Multiple Sclerosis (e.g. stress, alexithymia, childhood trauma) and now, with my PhD students, we are developing an online-based intervention based on mindfulness to improve physical, cognitive and socio-affective symptoms in people with MS. I’m also interested and worked on the field of suicide prevention in projects about non-suicidal self-injury in adolescents and young adults and in the “psychological autopsy” methodology.
