Thalia Eley

(Prof.)

Expertise

My expertise is in using genetic designs including both the twin design and genome-wide genetic data to explore the contribution of genetic factors to the development of anxiety and depression.

I am particularly interested in the interplay between genetic and environmental factors, and consider psychological treatment to be a form of environment intervention, with the prediction of outcomes from genetic factors (therapygenetics) being a particular focus.

I am the incoming Director of the Twins Early Development Study (TEDS) and am also co-lead of the Genetic Links ot Anxiety and Depression (GLAD) Study with my colleague Gerome Breen. This is the flagship study of the NIHR BioResource for Mental Health.
